![]() I don't know the exact model of the speaker you plan to use for your vocal monitor, but if it's active, it likely has either an XLR input jack, a 1/4" TRS jack or both. That said, using the effects send as an external monitor send will likely disable the internal effects send on the mixer, meaning that you'll not be able to add reverb, echo, etc to your vocals. The only difference between an aux output and the effects send on your console is the label next to the jack. This console has no dedicated aux outputs, but in this case, that's not a problem. A mixing console is really just a matrix, allowing you to send one, all or any combination of inputs to one, all or any combination of outputs (destinations). Larger mixing consoles have a number of auxiliary outputs that can send signals to various destinations. Assuming that you‘re using a third active speaker as the monitor for the singers (if not, let me know), you can use the effects send as a monitor send. Basically, the little Yamaha mixer you have will do what you need.
